The Man Who Didn't Take the Ferry Julian Roe 9781300666851 Books Reviews
If you ever wanted to know what it was like to "let it all go", this is the book for you! This biographical novel of one man's journey through life is inspiring. An easy read that really draws you into the story!
I started following Julian about 5 years ago when I renewed my interest in sailing. At that time he owned and operated an independant charter sailboat and published an online running travel log of his many adventures and the colorful people that shared his boat. I was a little sad when he moved back to dry land to start the next chapter of his adventure as it meant I would not get a chance to join him at sea. I was pleased to find this book and get a chance to read the full back story and share the experiences that went into building this unique world traveler. The early years moved him quickly across several continents where his good luck and quick wit kept him one step ahead of poverty but knee deep in adventure. I feel certain he edited out a lot of boring details between the adventures, but with 40 years to pack into a single book that can be expected. If you are a traveler yourself, need inspiration to push you toward taking the first steps of your own journey or are just looking for some vicarious fun you NEED
to read this book.
